March 15, 2020
The Lenten season began with Ash Wednesday on February 26. Midweek Lenten services will be held each of the following Wednesdays from March 4 through April 1 both at Noon and at 7:00 p.m.
Meals-Again and again the Bible tells us that eating with others is one way we experience God's kingdom. Worship at Noon on the Wednesdays of Lent and stay for a meal afterward. Come to eat at Zion at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and stay for worship at 7:00. Thank you to everyone who signed up to help with Lenten meals.
Lenten Offering Folders
Lent offering folders are now available on the table outside the sanctuary.
CAMA Lenten Breakfasts
The Cadillac Area Ministerial Association will be holding Lenten Breakfasts beginning Ash Wednesday, February 26 through Wednesday, April 8 from 7:00 - 7:50 a.m. For more details see the flyer on the bulletin board or take a flyer from the table in the hallway.
Lenten Olive Wood Crosses
The Evangelism Committee will have Olive Wood crosses available for you again this Lenten season. These crosses are made by hand by Palestinian Christian craftsmen. May the cross be a reminder to you of the season and a symbol of your journey during Lent - a time of walking the way of the cross. Take one for a friend, give one away, share your faith. The crosses will be available beginning Ash Wednesday and will be in a basket on the table outside the sanctuary.
Worship During Sabbatical
Survey results have been reviewed, and a decision has been made. Zion will hold one worship service at 9:30AM beginning April 19, 2020 and going through July 5, 2020 during Pastor Scott's sabbatical. On Sunday, July 12, we will return to holding two services each Sunday.
In hopes of preparing our congregation to get the most possible benefit from our sabbatical time, here is another quote from Planning Sabbaticals for your consideration:
“It is better for pastors and for congregations if congregations love their pastor but are not dependent upon the pastor to keep the congregation’s life together intact.”
Children’s Easter Activity Day
Children in preschool through 12 years old, come and join us Saturday, April 4, from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. We’ll have an Easter egg hunt, jelly bean walk, cookie decorating, crafts, and games. Invite your friends to join you. We are also in need of teen or adult volunteers. If you could help, please contact Val.

Location Change for Ladies Lunch Bunch Outing
Ladies Lunch Bunch has had a change in the meeting place, they will now meet at Burke’s Waterfront Restaurant Thursday, March 19th at 12:30 p.m. This month’s hostess is Beckie Kanipe.
Helping those overcoming homelessness
You can help those in our community trying to overcome homelessness by supporting our March 29 “Noisy” Offering. The money collected will be used to buy items for the “Blessing Baskets” we supply to the Northwest Community Action Agency. These baskets include basic cleaning and hygiene items and are given to those who have recently escaped homelessness. The baskets make a huge difference, and are much appreciated by those who receive them.
2020 Flower Chart
You have an opportunity to glorify God by remembering a loved one or honoring a special occasion in your life by providing flowers for Sunday worship. The 2020 Flower Chart is on the bulletin board. When the week of your choice arrives, place your order with a local florist, make payment, and ask them to deliver your flowers to the church in time for Sunday. Also, please note information for your donation on the Flower Chart or call the church office at 775-9821 so we can include the information in the Sunday bulletin.
Christ In Our Home Devotional
To assist you in spending time in prayer and meditation, our church offers free of charge the daily devotion magazine, Christ In Our Home. This devotional is available in both regular-print and large-print editions. Pick up a copy of the January through March issue for yourself and a friend or neighbor as well.
Large Print Bulletins
Large print bulletins are available on the table outside the sanctuary. Look for the red three-ring binder.
Nailya is coordinating special music provided by both members and community musicians. If you sing or play an instrument, Nailya would love to work with you to find music, practice, accompany you, or find other ways to support you in providing special music on Sunday at Zion.
Nailya prefers to connect in person or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks in advance for enhancing worship through your musical gifts.
