Safe Families for Children started in 2003 with the purpose of preventing child abuse and neglect from occurring by providing family support and pathways towards stabilization.
Volunteer Roles
One of the beautiful parts of Safe Families for Children is that there is a way for everyone to get involved and support families facing crisis in our area. Each volunteer helps us build a support team around a family facing crisis, so they are not alone.

Volunteer Roles
One of the beautiful parts of Safe Families for Children is that there is a way for everyone to get involved and support families facing crisis in our area. Each volunteer helps us build a support team around a family facing crisis, so they are not alone.
- Host Families provide temporary overnight care for kids ages 0-17 while their parent(s) work to stabilize their family.
- Family Friends provide daytime support to parents and host families through babysitting, mentoring, transportation, etc.
- Resource Friends give tangible items to families such as groceries, diapers, or clothing.
- Family Coaches walk alongside parents to help them reach their goals.
